COVD-19 2nd booster shot recommendations

As of March 30, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized a 2nd booster shot of COVID-19 vaccines in certain populations.

Only COVID-19 mRNA vaccines, Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna, are authorized for 2nd boosters.

The following groups are eligible for a second booster shot at least 4 months after completion of their primary series and booster dose.

Individuals 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised
Anyone 50+ years
Individuals ages 18-49 who received Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccine for their first shot and booster

Mix and match
Individuals are able to “mix and match” booster doses. Please consult with your primary care provider or pharmacist about whether mixing and matching is best for you.
