Welia Health Designated as Accredited Naloxone Access

July 10, 2024  /   Press Releases  /   1-minute read

Welia Health is pleased to announce its accreditation as a Naloxone Access Point (NAP), enhancing community health and safety in Kanabec and Pine counties along with neighboring areas. Naloxone can be obtained at either of Welia Health’s community pharmacies free of charge.

“Naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan, is a medication that can rapidly reverse opioid overdose,” explained Kristie Bryant, BSN, CARN, PHN, Care Coordinator for Welia Health’s Opioid Stewardship Program.” As an accredited NAP, Welia Health will provide free naloxone kits, crucial for saving lives in opioid emergencies. This initiative supports our mission to improve community health by empowering individuals with essential resources.”

Each naloxone kit distributed by Welia Health includes educational materials and access to online training modules covering opioid overdose recognition, naloxone administration, and proper storage techniques.

Naloxone Access Points like Welia Health aim to reduce opioid-related deaths and combat stigma by offering kits anonymously, without requiring insurance or personal information.

Welia Health operates two community pharmacies, located in Mora and Pine City. To get a Naloxone kit, simply visit either pharmacy or contact the pharmacy team to discuss the best choice for you.
