Welia Health scholarships
Continuing with its mission to support and improve the health of the communities it serves, Welia Health seeks to assist area students with their desire to continue their education into the healthcare related field.
Welia Health Volunteer – Gift Shop Scholarship
The Welia Health Volunteer group is offering a $1,000 scholarship intended to assist individuals (18+ and three years post-high school) with the cost of furthering their education or continuing their studies in a healthcare field. This scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable payout of $1,000 and is awarded based on personality, compassion, leadership qualities and financial need.
Eligibility
Scholarship applicants must:
- pursue educational goals in the healthcare/medical sciences area of study,
- live in Kanabec or Pine County,
- be a citizen of the United States,
- be at least three years post-high school,
- be enrolled in courses relating to healthcare at an accredited school, and
- be enrolled at least part-time in school.

Awardees
- Applicant winners are notified via email by a Welia Health representative.
- The scholarship monies will be paid directly to the college or university attended upon the successful completion of the first semester.
Welia Health Volunteer Scholarship – For graduating high school students
The Welia Health Volunteer group is offering a $1,000 scholarship intended to assist graduating high school students with the cost of furthering their education or continuing their studies in a healthcare/medical sciences field. This scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable payout of $1,000 and will be awarded based on scholastic achievement, leadership, financial need and desire to continue his or her education in a healthcare/medical sciences field.
Eligibility
Scholarship applicants must:
- pursue educational goals in the healthcare/medical sciences area of study,
- live in Kanabec or Pine County,
- be a citizen of the United States,
- have a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or higher, and
- take courses relating to healthcare at an accredited school.
Application form

- Fill out an official application.
- Include high school, community, religious and medical volunteer activities, accomplishments and organizations
- Outline plan, goals and area of intended study as it relates to the healthcare industry.
- Provide an official copy of the most recent transcripts.
- Return the scholarship application by email or US mail.

Welia Health Scholarship – For graduating high school students pursuing a career in the healthcare field
Welia Health offers a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating high-school senior from each of the following school districts: Mora, Ogilvie, Hinckley, and Pine City, Minnesota. The scholarship is renewable (for up to four years) if the recipient:
- continues to be enrolled full-time (maintaining a minimum credit load of 12 semester credits) in a two or four-year post-secondary degree program in an area of health care;
- maintains a 3.2 cumulative GPA while in college.
Eligibility
Scholarship applicants should want a career in the healthcare field that is deemed as an occupational need by Welia Health. Interested applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or more, on a 4.0 scale.
Application form
Students choosing to apply for this scholarship should:
- Fill out an official application obtained from their school counselor’s office.
- Include a letter of recommendation from a school official.
- In this letter, the school official should predict the student’s future success in a post-secondary environment and forth-coming career in the health care industry
- Write an essay.
- The 1-2 page essay should describe the student’s educational goals as they relate to a health care occupation of choice.
- Include an official copy of their most recent transcripts.
Deadline
All applications must be returned by April 5, 2024.
Welia Health will reserve the right to request an applicant to maintain their status as a student in good standing and utilize their photo, story, and name in publications and online for promotional purposes.
